Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 18, 2026

For a plain-English summary of how we operate, including our affiliate model and data practices, see How We Work.

CouponHub ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website couponhub.info (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit the Site. By using the Site, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

We may collect information that you voluntarily provide, including:

  • Coupon Submissions: When you submit a coupon code, we collect the store name, code, discount details, description, expiry date, and optionally your display name or email.
  • Newsletter Subscriptions: When you sign up for our email list, we collect your email address and the source of signup (e.g., homepage, store page, Facebook campaign).
  • Deal Alerts / Store Watch: When you click "Watch This Store" on any store page, we collect your email address and the store name you want to be alerted about. We generate a unique unsubscribe token tied to each watch, so you can unsubscribe from a single store or from all store alerts with one click.
  • Contact Forms: When you contact us, we collect your name, email address, and message content.
  • Community Votes: When you vote whether a coupon worked (thumbs up / thumbs down), we store the aggregate count but do not tie the vote to your identity.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you visit the Site, we may automatically collect:

  • Device & Browser Data: Browser type, operating system, device type, screen resolution, and language preferences.
  • Usage Data: Pages visited, time spent on pages, referring URLs, click patterns, and anonymous counts of how many times a coupon has been copied (used to compute Health Scores).
  • IP Address: We collect your IP address for rate limiting and fraud prevention. IP addresses are cryptographically hashed with a random salt before storage. We never store your raw IP address.
  • UTM Parameters: If you arrive from a link we shared on Facebook, email, or another channel, we may store the UTM source locally in your browser for session-level analytics. This is not tied to your identity.
  • Cookies & Similar Technologies: See Section 5 for details on cookies and local storage.

1.3 Information We Do Not Collect

We want to be explicit about what we never collect:

  • We do not require an account to browse, vote, copy codes, or save favorites.
  • We do not operate a browser extension and therefore never see your browsing activity outside CouponHub.
  • We do not collect or store payment information, credit card numbers, or purchase history.
  • We do not collect precise location data (GPS).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Site and our services.
  • Display and organize coupon codes for users.
  • Process and review user-submitted coupon codes before they go live.
  • Compute each code's Health Score (0-100) using aggregate vote data, freshness, expiry, and usage.
  • Send you the emails you have explicitly opted into (welcome emails, newsletter updates, store-specific deal alerts).
  • Respond to your inquiries and support requests.
  • Prevent fraud, spam, and abuse (e.g., rate-limiting submissions, votes, and email signups by hashed IP).
  • Analyze Site usage to improve performance, search ranking, and user experience.
  • Send administrative notifications to our team (e.g., alerts when a new coupon is submitted).
  • Comply with legal obligations.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Infrastructure Providers: We use trusted third-party services to operate the Site, including:
    • Hosting and content delivery providers (e.g., Vercel, Cloudflare, or AWS)
    • Database and authentication providers (e.g., Supabase, Firebase, or AWS RDS)
    • Email delivery providers (e.g., Resend, SendGrid, or Postmark)
These providers only access the data necessary to perform their services and are bound by their own data processing agreements.
  • Logo Providers: To display store logos, our server may make outbound requests to public logo and favicon services (e.g., logo.dev, Clearbit, or Google Favicons) using only the store's public domain name. No personal information is shared with these services.
  • Affiliate Partners: When you click a coupon code and are redirected to a retailer, your click may pass through an affiliate network (including Commission Junction / CJ Affiliate, Awin, and direct retailer programs). These networks set their own tracking cookies so the retailer can attribute the sale to CouponHub. We do not share personal data with affiliate partners. See Section 4 for details.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred as part of the transaction. You will be notified before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

4. Affiliate Links & Third-Party Sites

CouponHub participates in affiliate marketing programs including Commission Junction (CJ), Awin, and direct retailer partnerships. When you click a coupon code, a "Shop Now" button, or a "See Code" button, you may be redirected to a retailer's website through an affiliate tracking link. This means:

  • We may earn a commission if you make a purchase after clicking an affiliate link. The price you pay is never changed by using CouponHub.
  • The retailer and the affiliate network each have their own privacy policy and tracking practices, which we do not control.
  • Affiliate networks typically set a tracking cookie on your device so the sale can be attributed to us. This cookie is set by them, not by CouponHub.
  • We never override affiliate links placed by content creators or other publishers.

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit through our links.

5. Cookies, Local Storage & Tracking

5.1 Essential Cookies

We use essential cookies to maintain your session and authenticate admin users. These cookies are strictly necessary for the Site to function and cannot be disabled.

5.2 Local Storage (In Your Browser)

Most of our client-side personalization is stored in your browser's localStorage, not on our servers. This includes:

  • Favorite coupons you've saved (heart icon)
  • Vote records so you do not accidentally re-vote on a code
  • Stores you're watching so the "Watching" badge shows up when you return
  • Your email (only if you subscribe) so we can pre-fill forms
  • Arrival source (UTM) for our internal traffic analytics

You can clear this at any time by clearing your browser's site data for couponhub.info. Clearing it does not affect any emails or server-side records.

5.3 Analytics

We use Vercel Analytics and may use additional analytics services (such as Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use the Site. These services may use cookies and similar technologies to collect information about your browsing activity. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

5.4 Managing Cookies

Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of the Site, particularly admin features and session management.

6. Email Communications

CouponHub sends three kinds of email. All are delivered through Resend and all can be unsubscribed from at any time:

  • Welcome Email: Sent once when you first subscribe to our newsletter.
  • Deal Alerts / Store Watch: When you opt in to "Watch This Store" for a specific retailer, you will receive an email when new verified codes are added for that store. Each email contains two one-click unsubscribe links: unsubscribe from that single store, or unsubscribe from all store alerts. Unsubscribe tokens are unique per subscription for security.
  • Newsletter Updates: Periodic curated deal roundups sent only if you are subscribed to the main newsletter.

Every email we send also includes a standard List-Unsubscribe header (RFC 8058) so Gmail, Apple Mail, and other clients display a native one-click unsubscribe button at the top of the message.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including:

  • Encryption in Transit: All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using TLS/HTTPS.
  • IP Hashing: IP addresses are hashed using SHA-256 with a random salt before storage. We cannot reverse the hash to recover your original IP.
  • Access Controls: Admin access is protected by authentication with rate-limited login attempts to prevent brute-force attacks.
  • Security Headers: We implement industry-standard security headers including Content Security Policy (CSP), HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS), and X-Frame-Options to protect against common web vulnerabilities.
  • Row-Level Security: Our database enforces row-level security policies to ensure data is only accessible to authorized users.
  • Unique Unsubscribe Tokens: Each store-watch subscription has its own unguessable token so unsubscribe links cannot be used to reveal or modify other users' subscriptions.

While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention

  • Coupon data: Retained as long as it is relevant and useful to users. Expired codes are automatically deprioritized and may be removed.
  • Newsletter and Deal Alert subscriptions: Retained until you unsubscribe. Unsubscribing marks the record as inactive; we may keep the record for up to 12 months after unsubscribing to prevent accidental re-subscription.
  • Contact form messages: Retained for up to 12 months.
  • Hashed IP addresses (used for rate limiting): Retained for up to 30 days.
  • Admin changelog: Retained indefinitely for audit purposes.
  • Vote and usage aggregates: Retained indefinitely since they are not tied to your identity.

You may request deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us.

9. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.
  • Opt-Out: Unsubscribe from any email at any time via the unsubscribe link, or opt out of analytics tracking using browser settings.
  • Data Portability: Request your data in a portable, machine-readable format.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information in Section 13.

10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides you with additional rights:

  • Right to Know: You may request details about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected.
  • Right to Delete: You may request deletion of your personal information.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.
  • No Sale of Data: We do not sell personal information to third parties.
  • No Sharing for Cross-Context Advertising: We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

To submit a CCPA request, please contact us at support@couponhub.info.

11. European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • The right to access, rectify, or erase your personal data.
  • The right to restrict or object to processing.
  • The right to data portability.
  • The right to withdraw consent at any time.
  • The right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Our legal basis for processing personal data includes:

  • Consent - for newsletter signups, deal alerts, and analytics cookies.
  • Legitimate interest - for fraud prevention (rate limiting), site security, and product improvement.
  • Contractual necessity - for providing the services you request (e.g., sending you the deal alert email you signed up for).

12. Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the Site after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
